Joseph Boufadel
Salvato Boufadel LLP, Los Angeles, CAJOSEPH is a partner at Salvato Boufadel LLP, a boutique insolvency and business litigation firm with offices in Los Angeles and Irvine, Calif. His practice involves corporate business disputes, corporate reorganizations, fraudulent transfers and other insolvencyrelated matters, with an emphasis on creditors’ rights and remedies in both California state courts and bankruptcy courts. He has briefed and argued appeals before the California Court of Appeal, U.S. District Court, the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Prior to graduating from law school, he externed for Hon. Mitchel R. Goldberg of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.
Joseph is a certified specialist in bankruptcy law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He is an active member of the insolvency community in Southern California, where he is currently serving as the vice chair for member services for the Business Law Section of the California Lawyers Association, and on the board of directors for the Los Angeles Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, for which he has produced programs for its annual bankruptcy ethics symposium since 2015 as its conference chair. He is the recently outgoing co-chair of the Insolvency Law Committee (ILC) for the Business Law Section of the California Lawyers Association and has previously served in various capacities on its executive committee. He has also produced continuing legal education programs on issues relating to insolvency practice, including programs on recovering attorneys’ fees in bankruptcy litigation and the pursuit and pitfalls of litigation funding in bankruptcy cases for the ILC, California Bankruptcy Forum and Los Angeles County Bar Association. In addition, he has been a commissioner for the Bankruptcy Law Advisory Commission for the State Bar of California and a member of its working group, advising and assisting the California Board of Legal Specialization. Super Lawyers has named him a “Rising Star” in past years and has selected him as a “Super Lawyer.”
Joseph’s drive and work ethic was originally instilled in him by his family. He is a first-generation American whose grandparents immigrated to the U.S. in the late 1970s (when they were in their forties) to escape the civil war raging in Lebanon. He is thankful every day for the good fortune to have been raised in the U.S. He is also thankful for the good example set by his family, demonstrating the hard work and dedication necessary to succeed.
