Kathryn Lattner
Stout Risius Ross, LLC, Chicago, ILKATE is a managing director in Stout’s Disputes, Claims & Investigations and Corporate Recovery Services practice groups. She is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor and has 15 years of substantial experience leading forensic-related matters, both within and outside of distressed settings. Her practice is multifaceted, focused on providing expert forensic and dispute assistance on cases involving complex financial and accounting issues, intricate asset-tracing analyses, misappropriation and other fraudulent activity, damages calculations and accounting reconstructions. She has served in expert and consulting capacities on nuanced bankruptcy litigation matters, crossborder insolvency matters, large-scale forensic investigations, and complicated commercial and post-acquisition disputes. She serves Fortune 500 and mid-market companies, along with fiduciaries, court-appointed receivers, monitors, offshore liquidators, and bankruptcy and litigation trustees.
Kate enjoys speaking and teaching classes on accounting for lawyers, financial statement analysis, and fraud and Ponzi scheme investigations to law firms and corporate legal groups. She once presented to a group of over 500 FBI agents, discussing her involvement in Puerto Rico’s PROMESA Title III proceedings, in which she helped perform a liquidity analysis of more than 200 government agencies.
Passionate about promoting and empowering women in the profession, Kate serves on the leadership team of her firm’s Women’s Resource Group and regularly mentors other women at her firm. Outside of the office, she is a founding and active board member of Big Careers Little Kids, an organization that supports working mothers in the industry trying to navigate career growth and success while simultaneously raising children. In addition, she is a board member of the Chicago Chapter of the March of Dimes and a member of the Chicago Council of the American Writer’s Museum.
