Lauren P. Berret
Eisner Advisory Group, LLC, Philadelphia, PALAUREN is a director in Eisner Advisory Group’s Bankruptcy and Restructuring Services Group. Based at the firm’s Philadelphia office, she has more than 10 years of experience in restructuring and investigative advisory services, focusing on distressed companies, unsecured creditors, senior lenders, and trustees in the middle-market. She also provides forensic accounting and litigation-support services, drawing on her experience as a CPA. Throughout her career, she has been part of the bankruptcy and restructuring groups at several national accounting and advisory firms, and she has served as a financial advisor to numerous unsecured creditors’ committees and liquidating trustees. She also assisted in several bankruptcy litigation matters and was responsible for the review, analysis and sensitivity testing of financial projections; the assessment of historical financial conditions; and a review of market commentaries to assess capital adequacy in multiple engagements. In addition, she has conducted forensic investigations and reviews for business entities of all types and sizes, and has prepared investigative and expert reports for use by key stakeholders.
Prior to providing advisory services, Lauren spent four years practicing law as a consumer bankruptcy attorney, representing debtors in chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy proceedings. From 2011-14, she operated her own law firm, representing consumer debtors and providing pro bono services. Prompted by the desire to provide her clients with more comprehensive services, in 2012 she continued her education by pursuing a Certificate in Accounting. In July 2016, she moved to Philadelphia to join a national accounting firm and successfully completed the CPA exam. She is serving her second term as chair of IWIRC’s Greater Philadelphia Network, and she has served multiple terms as a board member of TMA’s Philadelphia/Wilmington Chapter, for which she was elected DE&I Committee chair. In that role, she worked with local leadership to organize a Judges’ Panel and Luncheon in September 2024 that let law and business students from local schools interact with experienced judges and practitioners in an informal setting. As a member of the TMA Global DE&I Committee, she drafted the Governance section of the organization’s DE&I Playbook, which serves as a resource and a roadmap for other chapters’ DE&I initiatives.
Lauren devotes her spare time to student outreach, having participated in a “Careers in Bankruptcy Law” panel at Temple Law with other prominent members of the local bankruptcy bar. Under her leadership, IWIRC’s Greater Philadelphia Network hosted recruiting programs at Rutgers-Camden Law and Temple Law designed to educate law students about careers in the bankruptcy and restructuring sectors. She also is a strong believer in equal access to education and spends time supporting the efforts of City Year Philadelphia, an AmeriCorps national service program dedicated to creating more equitable access to educational opportunities for students in systemically under-resourced schools.
Education
“Lauren is both a licensed attorney and a CPA, which is a testament — in itself — to her work ethic and desire to learn and develop her skill set.”
