Reid Collins & Tsai LLP, Austin, TXRYAN is a partner with Reid Collins & Tsai LLP in Austin, Texas, where his practice focuses on plaintiff-side complex commercial litigation, including actions involving business torts, professional liability and complex financial transactions. He has litigated and tried cases before state and federal courts and arbitration tribunals across the country, in addition to representing clients in connection with confidential, pre-suit settlements. He regularly pursues complex claims on an alternative-fee basis, including on behalf of bankruptcy trustees and foreign liquidators. As part of his professional liability practice, he has pursued legal malpractice claims against numerous “AmLaw100” firms involving a wide range of alleged misconduct. Prior to joining the firm, he handled complex litigation matters as an associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP and clerked for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
Ryan was listed in Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Plaintiff Financial Lawyers for 2025 and in Lawdragon’s 500 X – The Next Generation for 2023 and 2024, and as the National Law Journal’s Rising Star of the Plaintiffs Bar for 2023, and he has appeared on Benchmark Litigation’s 40 & Under List for several years. He received the Texas Law Fellowships Excellence in Public Interest Award in 2023 and is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.
Ryan maintains an active pro bono practice, including through Reid Collins’ partnership with the ACLU on the Justice Lab initiative. He pursued a Section 1983 pro bono case for four years in a case involving racially discriminatory policing, culminating in a 2024 jury trial victory that the Fifth Circuit upheld on appeal in 2025. He also serves as a mentor for the annual Texas Law Mentoring Program, and he is an interviewer for the Georgetown University Alumni Admissions Program. In addition, he serves on the firm’s recruiting committee. An experienced tennis player and coach, he is a member of the board of directors of the Capital Area Tennis Association, a nonprofit community service tennis organization that seeks to increase tennis participation to promote healthier communities.
