Steven W. Golden
Pachulski Stang Ziehl & Jones LLP, Wilmington, DESTEVE is a partner with Pachulski Stang Ziehl & Jones in Wilmington, Del., and also is resident in the firm’s New York and Houston offices. He represents debtors, committees, foreign representatives, unsecured creditors and other constituencies in chapter 11 and 15 bankruptcy proceedings and related litigation and appeals. Among his many engagements, he was instrumental in the firm’s representation of Amyris, Watsonville Hospital and CarbonLite in their chapter 11 cases and the official creditors’ committees in dozens of chapter 11 cases, such as Neiman Marcus, Payless Shoes, Studio Movie Grill and The Weinstein Company. He also has represented foreign representatives in the chapter 15 cases of Iovate International, STS Renewables, Rokstad Power and Nexii Building Solutions, and is a member of the International Insolvency Institute NextGen Class X.
Steve has authored some 20 articles and other publications on a wide range of bankruptcy topics and was recognized in 2024 as an Emerging Leader by The M&A Advisor and in 2021 as one of 19 recipients of the American Bar Association’s inaugural “20/20 Partners Rising Young Leader Award.” He is a member of ABI and the American Bar Association’s Business Bankruptcy Committee (for which he serves as co-chair of its Bankruptcy Appeals Subcommittee and as vice chair of its Young and New Lawyers Subcommittee), Turnaround Management Association, International Insolvency Institute (for which he serves on its Communications Committee; United States, Canada, and Caribbean Regional Committee; and UNCITRAL Working Group V), Delaware Bankruptcy Inn of Court, and the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors. In addition, he regularly speaks at events for ABI, INSOL and the ABA, among others.
Steve stumbled into a bankruptcy class by accident, but quickly realized the subject had pulled him in. As an undergraduate, he supported a team of cross-country cyclists in the Journey of Hope, coordinating with local media and helping raise awareness for disability-focused programming in communities across the country. That experience fueled a lasting commitment to disability advocacy, and he speaks openly about mental health and disability in law. He is especially proud to advocate for mental health in the profession, having spoken at the 2024 ABA Business Law Fall Meeting on chronic stress, depression and addiction in legal practice. He also has participated in accessibility-focused projects with Push America and has advocated for people facing unjust detention under international travel policies.
