Ms. Hannah Hutman
WILLIAM & MARY SCHOOL OF LAW
B.A., POLITICAL STUDIES, SUMMA CUM LAUDE
COLUMBIA UNION COLLEGE
HANNAH started her own law practice devoted to bankruptcy and insolvency matters, a practice area that was underserved in her community, at the age of 29. She has since become a partner with Hoover Penrod, which has allowed her to expand her areas of practice. She represents debtors in cases pending under chapters 7, 12, 13 and 11, and she frequently represents creditors and trustees in bankruptcy proceedings and insolvency-related matters.
Hannah has represented national and regional banks in all aspects of commercial collections, including restructuring obligations, asset liquidations and dispositions, and foreclosure. A member of the panel of chapter 7 trustees for the Western District of Virginia, she is a frequent presenter on a wide variety of insolvency-related topics and coauthored a chapter in Bankruptcy Practice in Virginia.
Hannah is active in the Virginia network of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation and currently serves as the liaison for the Western District of Virginia. She also is a member of the Board of Governors for the Bankruptcy Section of the Virginia State Bar and serves as a councilmember for the Bankruptcy Section of the Virginia Bar Association. Outside of the office, she serves on the board of a local free medical clinic, engaging with other professionals seeking to provide affordable health care to low-income members of her community.
