Ms. Alexandra Schnapp

U.S. Bankruptcy Court (N.D. Ga.), Atlanta, GA

ALEXANDRA (CC) is a law clerk to Hon. Wendy Hagenau, Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia. From 2011-18, she clerked for Hon. C. Ray Mullins. She regularly encounters a wide array of consumer and business bankruptcy matters, including issues related to claim objections, § 363 asset sales, plan confirmation, dismissals and conversions, and all aspects of adversary proceedings. In 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018, she received a Special Service Award from the court. Prior to attending law school, she worked as a litigation legal assistant at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York. Her time at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia began early on, when she interned for Hon. Mary Grace Diehl.

CC recently co-chaired ABI’s Ethics and Professional Compensation Committee, and she is a frequent contributor to the committee’s newsletter and to ABI’s VOLO circuit court case summaries. She is on the board of directors for the Georgia Network of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC), chairs the Bench and Bar Committee of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia, is a member-at-large on the Atlanta Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Section board of directors, serves as co-coordinator for the Atlanta Credit Abuse Resistance Education (CARE) program (for which she received the inaugural CARE Program Chapter of the Year Award for coordinating the Atlanta Chapter), and is an adviser for the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal Notes and Comments Advisory Committee. She also participated in the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges’ NextGen Program.

CC has lived in all four corners of the U.S. and has encountered different and exciting challenges in each; she also spent a year studying in Italy. In her community, she is the Middlebury College Alumni Atlanta chapter leader and the Middlebury College Alumni Admissions Program Georgia Committee Chair, and she serves on the board of directors for Everybody Wins! Atlanta, an organization devoted to improving the reading skills and developing a love of reading in students reading below grade level.
