JOHN is a member of Ice Miller LLP’s Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Practice Group where he concentrates his practice on UCC issues, loans, workouts and other financial transactions. He frequently represents clients in debtor/creditor disputes, commercial and bankruptcy litigation and other insolvency matters. Prior to joining Ice Miller, he clerked for two federal bankruptcy court judges: Hon. Hannah L. Blumenstiel in the Northern District of California and Hon. Charles M. Caldwell in the Southern District of Ohio. Much of his work involved complex business transactions, including the sale or restructuring of tech companies, commercial property ventures, health care facilities and retail chains. Before serving as a law clerk, he worked in private practice representing clients in a variety of matters, including bankruptcy, civil litigation, foreclosure defense and mediation, municipal law and business planning.

John actively participates in ABI and currently serves as Membership Relations Director of its Bankruptcy Litigation Committee. He is also active the Columbus Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Committee and the Columbus Legal Aid Society’s Tenant Advocacy Project, which seeks to protect the rights of tenants in eviction proceedings. He has taken on pro bono chapter 7 and 13 cases and collections actions, putting in more than 100 hours of pro bono work in each of 2019 and 2020. He also was a member of a team from Ice Miller that won the local bar association’s Firm of the Year award for its pro bono work. In addition, he has served on multiple firm committees and has participated in a number of working groups geared toward addressing the needs of attorneys with children.

In the communities where he has lived, John has volunteered with local food banks and homeless shelters. Currently, he serves on the board of the Helping Hands Health and Wellness Center, a local free health care clinic that provides care to underserved populations in Central Ohio.
