SAMANTHA is special counsel in the Financial Restructuring Group in Stroock’s New York office. She has significant experience representing debtors, official committees of unsecured creditors, ad hoc groups of bondholders and lenders, individual creditors, purchasers and liquidating trustees in all aspects of complex corporate restructurings, including chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings. She also has advised foreign representatives in chapter 15 recognition proceedings.

Samantha has worked with several women’s organizations that focus on the connection, development and promotion of women in law. As co-chair of her firm’s women’s affinity group, she mentors women lawyers and helps create programs to promote the professional and personal development of the women at her firm, as well as the firm’s clients and allies. She also served as Board Advisor and Co-Chair of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation’s New York Network (IWIRC NY). In this capacity, she helped organize events to bring women together to strengthen business and personal relationships, provided them with the networking, leadership and technical skills needed to advance professionally, and provided advice on work/life balance issues. Under her leadership, IWIRC NY was awarded the “Ryan Award” as Network of the Year in 2017 for its achievements.

Samantha currently serves as Communications Manager for ABI’s Unsecured Trade Creditors Committee, and she recently served on the Executive Committee for the International Insolvency Institute’s NextGen Program and as a member of the Red Party Committee for Her Justice. In addition, she is active in pro bono efforts, many of which involve protecting the educational rights of students with disabilities. She has helped children on the autism spectrum secure appropriate school placements and drafted pivotal briefs in a highly publicized case involving the displacement of a public school for students with autism in favor of a charter school, which resulted in a new law establishing parents’ rights to participate in the public process.
