Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP, Wilmington, Del.

MORGAN is a partner at Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP, where her practice focuses on corporate bankruptcy and creditors’ rights in complex chapter 11 proceedings. She primarily practices in the bankruptcy court in Wilmington, Del., but also routinely appears in courts across the country. She has broad experience representing debtors, creditors’ committees, lenders, bondholders, secured and unsecured creditors, liquidation trustees, landlords, asset-purchasers, and other interested entities in various bankruptcy reorganization and liquidation proceedings. Her bankruptcy work includes all matters of litigation and transactions, including involuntary petitions, avoidance actions, relief-from-stay proceedings, trustee motions, the sale and purchase of assets, executory contracts and lease issues, post-petition financing, disclosure statements, plan confirmation, and representing liquidating trustees and plan administrators in the winding down of estates. She also has expertise with cross-border insolvency and subchapter V proceedings; specifically, she has led the recognition of several large cross-border asset sales and multiple debtors through the subchapter V process.

Morgan’s journey toward restructuring practice began during her first job as a social worker, when she served as a victim’s advocate in the Philadelphia DA’s office, aiding families of murder victims. The experience encouraged her to go to law school so she could continue to help others. As a lawyer, she serves through pro bono work and has represented children in foster care, victims of domestic abuse, individuals seeking VA benefits, a child seeking special immigration status, and victims of sex trafficking. She also began working with Restoration Now, a program that works to free women who are being sex- or labor-trafficked in Delaware. She provides direct outreach with the goal of letting women know that help is available.

Morgan is active in the International Women’s Restructuring & Insolvency Confederation and is the current chair of the Bankruptcy section of the Delaware State Bar Association. She also previously led the ABA’s podcast committee and created free podcast content, which led to her being selected as co-chair of its IP and Webmasters Committee. In addition, she has led pupilage teams in the Delaware Bankruptcy Inn of Court and will do so again this spring.
