Brendon Singh

BRENDON is a founding partner of Tran Singh LLP and focuses on consumer and corporate restructuring and litigation. His experience includes the representation of debtors in chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcies, as well as out-of-court workouts. In 2020, he was appointed by the U.S. Trustee to serve as a subchapter V trustee for small business cases filed in the Southern District of Texas. Recently, he was appointed to serve on the Small Business & Subchapter V Rules Committee. Prior to his partnership at Tran Singh LLP, he interned for Hon. Vanessa Gilmore in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas in Houston and was a summer associate at Liskow Lewis, LLP, also in Houston.

Brendon is Board Certified in Consumer Bankruptcy Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He was recognized by Texas Monthly as a “Texas Super Lawyer” in 2022 and as a “Texas Rising Star” for 2018-22 in the category of Consumer Bankruptcy. He has also been recognized by Houstonia Magazine as a “Houston Top Lawyer” for 2018-23 in the category of Bankruptcy. Lastly, he was listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law for 2021-22 and on the “Ones to Watch” list for 2022-23.

Brendon emigrated from Tobago with his family and is actively involved in the Houston community, taking pride in giving back. He volunteers with the Veterans Legal Initiative and with the Galveston Bay Foundation Conservation Program. He also was chosen as a panel chair for the Independent Police Oversight Board for two terms, helping to provide a system of increased accountability and transparency and to facilitate resident input into the Houston Police Department’s internal investigative process. In addition, he serves as treasurer of the Houston Association of Young Bankruptcy Attorneys, and helped start a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Project at Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law, which grouped law students with consumer attorneys so they could put together pro bono chapter 7 cases; to that end, he helped get judges on board to allow the law students to argue motions to waive the filing fees. During law school, he participated in the annual ABI/St. John’s University School of Law Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition, and since 2013 he has continued his involvement with the competition as a coach for his alma mater. Outside of work, he is an automobile enthusiast and enjoys rebuilding and customizing vehicles.
