YELENA is partner in the Insolvency and Restructuring practice at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP in Dallas. She represents debtors, creditors, receivers, secured lenders and other stakeholders in complex restructurings, liquidations and receiverships. Her practice spans chapter 11 cases, out-of-court workouts, asset sales, receiverships and bankruptcy litigation across a wide range of industries, including energy, oil and gas, agriculture, precious metals, real estate, manufacturing and retail. She previously clerked for Hon. Russell F. Nelms in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas, an experience that shaped her approach to advocacy and deepened her understanding of the bankruptcy process.

Yelena trained in the International Arbitration Group at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Paris and completed the requirements for the INSOL Foundation Certificate in International Insolvency Law Program, where she learned about the insolvency systems of six jurisdictions spanning several continents. She has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America’s “Ones to Watch” list from 2021-25 and won the Armenian Bar Association’s Rising Stars Award. She also has participated in NCBJ’s 2024 NextGen Program and is a member of ABI’s Business Reorganization Committee, and she served as a past board member of IWIRC’s Dallas chapter and various other restructuring organizations locally, nationally and internationally.

At Katten, Yelena is a mentor to a number of associates and is a member of the firm’s recruitment committee. She also mentors young Armenian professionals, who frequently turn to her for career advice, and she is active in the local Armenian community and Armenian Church. As a pro bono matter, she confirmed a chapter 11 plan for a Texas VFW post, settling more than $250,000 in claims for less than $5,000. As a result, the post was able to continue its support of area veterans.
