RICH is a managing director with Alvarez & Marsal Restructuring & Turnaround based in Los Angeles. He specializes in executing complex financial and operational restructurings and designing and implementing transformation initiatives. He has nearly 20 years of experience in financial advisory services and more than 13 years of experience advising companies in operational turnaround and financial reorganization plans.

Rich focuses on business plan and financial projection evaluation, cash flow and liquidity management, cost-out implementation, reorganization plan initiatives, working capital analysis, transformation design and implementation, business unit and four-wall profitability analyses, and various other financial and operational projects in a broad range of industries, including specialty retail, transportation, manufacturing and industrials, consumer products, sporting goods, media and entertainment production and distribution, midstream and E&P, leisure entertainment, and consumer technologies. His clients have included AMC Entertainment, Ride Aid, Juul Labs, Avaya, Haggen Food and Pharmacy, Target Canada, Coldwater Creek, Erickson Inc., Conexant Microsystems, Arcapita, Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets LBI Media, Clover Technologies, Salt Creek Midstream, Gulfport Energy, Loyalty Ventures (Air Miles), renewable energy companies, film-production businesses, a global industrial packaging operation, a seasonal sporting goods manufacturer and distributor, and a global e-commerce retail business.

Rich started out working in accounting before switching gears once he joined the firm. He has since become a restructuring leader in the retail and media and entertainment space and has helped mentor others: He oversaw the recruiting and training of the firm’s West region offices and has prepared and taught both a “Retail 101” restructuring class to regional junior staff and a “Managing Big Data” course, which has been attended by more than 150 junior staff and continues to be taken by new analysts and associates every year. In previous years, he has organized and led multi-day town halls for 50 professionals in the western U.S. as both an educational and team-building event. He not only created developmental content and case studies and arranged guest speakers and other platforms of learning and development, he also planned offsites, dinners and social hours for the entire team. He also hosts multiple cross-industry restructuring networking events. A former college football player, he is an avid runner, surfer, skier and snowboarder.
