Gaurav Mankotia
BFSNG Law Group LLP, Syosset, N.Y.GAURAV is an associate with BFSNG Law Group, LLP in Syosset, N.Y., where he represents chapter 7 trustees in complex adversary proceedings, fraudulent-transfer and preference actions, and appellate matters before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In addition, he plays an active role in chapter 11 reorganizations, advising debtors on plan formulation, executory contract issues and asset-disposition strategies. His practice reflects a rare balance of precision, creativity, and practical insight into the business and procedural dimensions of bankruptcy. Before joining BFSNG Law Group, he clerked at Pulman Cappuccio & Pullen, LLP in San Antonio, where he supported multiple chapter 7 trustees in a wide range of matters, and served as a judicial intern to the Hon. Eduardo V. Rodriguez of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. His early exposure to the judiciary and trustee practice gave him a deep understanding of the dynamics that drive bankruptcy litigation and estate recovery.
Admitted to practice in New York, Alabama and India, Gaurav began his professional journey at a prominent corporate litigation-focused firm in Chandigarh, India, under the mentorship of Mr. Anand Chhibbar, senior advocate and one of India’s most respected authorities in corporate and insolvency law. Under Mr. Chhibbar’s guidance, he honed his expertise in complex commercial disputes and high-stakes litigation. During this period, he appeared before the Supreme Court of India, multiple High Courts and Company Law Tribunals across the country, handling major insolvency, arbitration and constitutional law cases. He was twice appointed by the Company Law Tribunal to chair creditors’ and shareholders’ meetings.
Gaurav jokes that he only became an attorney because of Rajat Khanna, who once made him just promise to sit through the law exams. He subsequently developed a keen interest in bankruptcy law and won the Duke Transactional Law Competition. Outside of the office, he serves as Special Projects co-chair for ABI’s International Committee and sits on the advisory board of ABI’s International European Insolvency Symposium. A member of the Turnaround Management Association, he was selected as a mentor for the NYC Pro Bono Committee, through which he has advised entrepreneurs on restructuring and strategic business issues.
