Gabrielle G. Palmer
Onsager | Fletcher | Johnson | Palmer LLC, Denver, COGABRIELLE is a member at Onsager | Fletcher | Johnson | Palmer LLC in Denver, where she focuses her practice on advising debtors, creditors, creditors’ committees and trustees in all aspects of chapter 7 and chapter 11 bankruptcy cases. She has substantial experience in all aspects of bankruptcy cases, including first-day motions, plan negotiation and solicitation, asset sales, and litigating claims under 11 U.S.C. §§ 544, 547, 548 and 549. She also represents clients in complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts, out-of-court workouts, corporate dissolutions, collection actions and other insolvency-related matters. In 2023, she worked on one of Colorado’s most publicized chapter 11 cases as counsel for the Tattered Cover Book Store, whereby her team was able to preserve the cultural history of the Tattered Cover, along with the employment of approximately 70 longtime employees. Prior to joining the firm, she interned for Hon. Howard R. Tallman and in law school was a research assistant for Prof. Michael D. Sousa.
Gabrielle co-chairs ABI’s Young & New Members Committee, and she was instrumental in launching the committee’s podcast, “Fresh Start: A Podcast for Young and New Insolvency Professionals.” She regularly authors articles for the Norton Journal of Bankruptcy Law and Practice and the Norton Annual Survey of Bankruptcy Law, among other publications. She also has been a frequent speaker on panels for the Colorado Bar Association and ABI’s Rocky Mountain Bankruptcy Conference (for which she has served on its advisory board). She also was an attorney co-chair for a Judicial Conference Committee on the Administration of the Bankruptcy System and Faculty of Federal Advocates event titled, “Roadways to the Bench: Who, Me? A Bankruptcy or Magistrate Judge?” She was named a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” for 2025, and she is a director at large for the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation’s Mountain Desert Network, as well as a member of the Faculty of Federal Advocates and the Colorado Bar Association.
Gabrielle was born to a young single mother and at four years old, she was adopted by her father (who shared her birth father’s Middle Eastern background). After many years of financial struggles, her parents later divorced. That experience instilled in her a resolve to do things differently in her own life — both for herself and her children. She has carried and acted on that commitment for many years, including by graduating with her undergraduate degree debt-free, pursuing her legal career over the dissent of a college advisor, graduating Order of the Coif for her grade record ranking in the top 5% of her law school class, and maintaining a successful law practice advising businesses and business owners on financial issues in and outside of bankruptcy cases.
