Mr. Justin Schmaltz

JUSTIN is a managing director with the firm’s North American Turnaround and Restructuring practice. For more than 15 years, he has worked exclusively in distressed situations and transactions, including in- and out-of-court restructurings, operational turnarounds, asset sales and refinancing transactions. He has worked with clients across a wide range of industries, including technology, media, publishing, sports and entertainment, energy, mining, auto and aerospace manufacturing, transportation, retail and pharmaceuticals, as well as banking and financial services. His notable clients have included iHeartMedia, Blockbuster, Cengage Learning, The Tribune Co., SandRidge Energy, Answers Corp. (as CRO), Swift Energy, Expro, Murray Energy, Delphi Corp.’s debtor-in-possession lender group and Graceway Pharmaceuticals.Prior to joining A&M, Justin spent four years in the corporate and project workouts department of Prudential Capital Group, which manages approximately $80 billion of private debt, mezzanine and equity investments. He holds the CFA designation and is a member of the CFA Society of Chicago, ABI and the Turnaround Management Association.Born and raised in North Dakota, Justin is the first in his family to earn a college degree, and he has worked part-time jobs in manufacturing and services since the age of 14, which helped him form his work ethic. Outside of the office, he volunteers with meals for the homeless and various service projects in his community, and has supported the River North Dance Company, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Lurie Children’s Hospital and LINK Unlimited Scholars.
