Ms. Summer Shaw

Doling Shaw & Hanover, APC, Palm Desert, CA

SUMMER is a founding member of bankruptcy boutique law firm Doling Shaw & Hanover, APC, which serves Southern California. She represents creditors and debtors in chapter 7, 11, 12 and 13 bankruptcy proceedings and litigation, including trustee representation, involuntary bankruptcy defense litigation, consumer rights law, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) violations, mortgage-lending fraud, wrongful foreclosure litigation, Truth in Lending Act (TILA) violations, and unfair and deceptive acts and practices and predatory lending violations.

Summer served as program chair for the Inland Empire Bankruptcy Forum last year, shaping the continuing education for the local bar, and currently serves as its president. She also served as Consumer Program co-chair for the California Bankruptcy Forum Conference in 2016 and is a professor of bankruptcy law at the California Desert Trial Academy. In addition, she has been on the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California’s Pro Bono Honor Roll and was listed as a Top Bankruptcy Lawyer in Palm Springs Life.

Summer is the eldest of three children whose family lived below the poverty line for much of her youth. She spent every summer on her own volunteering in Mexico with a nonprofit until her senior year of high school, when her parents moved the entire family there. While difficult, this experience helped shape her desire to work with struggling families and instilled a desire to always give back to her community.

I have had the delightful experience of watching this highly principled and intelligent young lady mature from her entry level position with my office all the way to becoming a highly skilled bankruptcy lawyer. [Summer] is a hard worker, cares deeply about the welfare of her clients, and works hard to do her very best for each of them.
